Our story

Working with you and your employees since 1969

Initially specializing in work and safety footwear, HUSKY is now a specialist store for all worker safety equipment.

Born in Joliette

Since our founding in 1969, when Jean-Louis Drainville devoted himself body and soul to his work for the good of his family and his community, HUSKY has strived to do the right things and do them well. Because that's how we were built. MADE TO LAST.

Our story

Hard work, customer service, and honesty are at the heart of our story. Initially specializing in work and safety footwear, HUSKY is now a boutique specializing in all worker safety equipment. We've grown alongside our customers, never losing sight of their primary goal: service.

1969

1969

The company was founded by Jean-Louis Drainville under the name JL Drainville Chaussures . The adventure began humbly in the basement of the family home, with a clear objective: to offer sustainable work shoes to the local community.

Shortly after, the company opened its first storefront in downtown Joliette, marking the beginning of a wonderful story of customer proximity.

1979

On February 15, the company officially adopted the name Chaussures HUSKY . The idea for the name came from his faithful four-legged companion: a husky dog who accompanied Jean-Louis everywhere.

A symbol of loyalty, strength and endurance, the husky perfectly embodies the values that the company wishes to convey through its products and services.

1985

Launch of the HUSKY mobile unit, a fully equipped truck allowing customers to fit shoes directly at the factory or on construction sites.

This innovative concept allows employers to provide footwear for their employees on their premises. A solution that was still rare at the time and is still very popular with our customers.

1987

HUSKY acquires its first commercial premises in Saint-Paul, after operating for several years in rented spaces.

This new location provides more space to serve customers and support inventory expansion, marking an important step towards greater stability and autonomy.

2000

Hugo Drainville, Pierre's first son, joined the company part-time, while also working as an agricultural mechanic.

His arrival embodies the succession of the family and introduces a new generation of ideas, energy and commitment to the HUSKY mission.

2010

Julie Venne becomes HUSKY's very first employee. As an in-store advisor, she enhances the customer experience.

Concerned about the well-being of his team, Pierre doesn't hesitate to buy a coffee machine just for them - a thoughtful gesture that reflects the human and family atmosphere that is so present at HUSKY.

2014

Hugo and François officially take over the company, marking the transition to the third generation.

As a duo, they continue their father's vision while innovating to meet the needs of an ever-changing clientele.

2019

In 2019, HUSKY celebrates its 50th anniversary with pride and gratitude. A major store expansion adds over 5,000 sq ft to better serve the growing local and professional clientele.

The year is marked by a gathering evening with employees, customers and family. A highlight to highlight the company's history and momentum .
